Dan Glickman is vice president of the Aspen Institute and executive director of the Aspen Institute Congressional Program which is a non-partisan public policy education and civility building program for members of the United States Congress. He is also a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C. He also chairs the International Advisory Council APCO Worldwide and is a Senior Advisor to The Russell Group. Glickman served as the US Secretary of Agriculture from March 1995 until January 2001. Before his appointment, Glickman served for 18 years in the US House of Representatives representing the 4th Congressional District of Kansas. During that time, he was a member of the House Agriculture Committee, the House Judiciary Committee; chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; and was a leading congressional expert on general aviation policy. Glickman is on the board of directors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange; board member of the Food Research and Action Center; member of the National 4-H Advisory Council; and Chair of the US Global Leadership Coalition. He was appointed by former secretary of agriculture Tom Vilsack as chair of the newly created Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research and is now a board member. He received his BA in history from the University of Michigan and his JD from the George Washington University. He is a member of the Kansas and District of Columbia Bars.
